Data Aquisition Systems
Server Room Environments provides robust data acquisition ecosystems centered around Perseus Energy monitoring hardware, software, and sensors from HW Group. These systems enable the seamless collection of data from utility meters (electricity, water, and gas) and environmental management sensors, including temperature, relative humidity, and water detection. The devices support multiple communication protocols and ensure 24/7 connectivity via hardwired Ethernet IP or LTE connections. Collected data can be accessed through an Open API (XML, Modbus/TCP, MQTT) and is accompanied by customizable notification alerts via SMS, phone call, email, or SNMP Trap. For broader monitoring needs, Perseus Energy devices integrate effortlessly with the SensDesk Portal, making them ideal for managing multiple devices across wide geographic areas.

The Difference between Data Collection, Data Aquisition and Data Aquisition Systems.
DAQ (Data Acquisition) and DAS (Data Acquisition System) are closely related terms but with different meanings:
- DAQ (Data Acquisition): DAQ refers to the process of collecting data from various sensors or instruments, often related to physical quantities like temperature, pressure, voltage, or energy usage. DAQ involves the actual act of measuring and converting real-world signals into digital data that can be processed, analyzed, or recorded. The focus of DAQ is on the acquisition of data. It involves the hardware components that interface with sensors or measurement devices to capture data. In the context of energy metering, DAQ could involve measuring parameters such as voltage, current, or power consumption from an energy meter, using sensors or measurement devices.
- DAS (Data Acquisition Systems): a DAS is a complete system that facilitates the acquisition, processing, storage, and transmission of data. DAS includes not only the hardware used to collect data (like sensors, transducers, and analog-to-digital converters) but also the software and infrastructure that allow for data management, analysis, and communication.
Data Acquisition Systems (DAS).
In the context of energy metering, both terms (Data Collection and Data Aquisition) are often used interchangeably, though the term ‘Data Acquisition System’ might be more broadly applicable as it encompasses not just energy meters but also other sensors or instruments that collect various types of data from different sources. DAS typically includes the hardware (such as communication modules, gateways, and loggers) and software (for data processing, storage, and transmission) components necessary for gathering and managing data.
Other possible terms or phrases that may be used in similar contexts include:
- Energy Data Logger: A device specifically used to collect and record energy usage data over time.
- Energy Management System (EMS): This is a more comprehensive system that may include data collection as one of its functionalities, along with monitoring, analysis, and optimization.
- Meter Data Management System (MDMS): A centralized platform that processes and stores data from energy meters, which often includes the collection and aggregation of data from various sources.
- Remote Data Collector: Refers to devices or systems that collect data from remote or distributed energy meters.
Each of these terms can refer to systems or devices involved in the process of gathering, storing, and transmitting energy-related data for analysis and reporting.
