Other brand supported include: ABB, Axioma, Banner, BEKO, Calex, Carlo Gavazzi, CDI, Circutor, ComAp, Comate, Contrec, Crompton, Datexel, Diel, DSE, Eastron, Eaton, ebm-papst, Ecoforest, Elcontrol, Elsner, Endress+Hauser, FandF, GE Vernova, ICP DAS, IME, Inepro, iSMA CONTROLLI, Ista, Kamstrup, Komfovent, MCI, Nokeval RMD681, Schneider, Siemens, Socomec, Status Instruments, Temco Controls, Tibbo, Tracer, Twelve Electric, and VPInstruments.
Adding Support for Other Meter and Sensor Brands
In cases where the devices you want to monitor are not listed in the dropdown menu, rayleighconnectâ„¢ provides the option to easily integrate additional meters and sensors. The platform can be customised to support virtually any type of energy-related equipment, ensuring that your unique needs are met. With ongoing updates and adaptable system architecture, integrating new devices is straightforward, keeping your monitoring capabilities future-proof and scalable.
How does it work?
Gateways collect the data from the energy meters. Once data is received by rayleighconnectâ„¢ Bridge it can be:
- Retrieved via Easy API
- Automatically forwareded via Interconnect
- Install a rayleighconnectâ„¢ gateway and connect the energy meters
- Register the gateway using serial number and provided registration code
- Configuration: all configuration can be done with easy to use online administration panel which works well on both computers and mobile devices.
- Health Monitoring: rayleighconnectâ„¢ monitors GSM signal, configurations, communication statuses, message queues and more. Health of each is element is color coded for ease of use.
- Data Storage:rayleighconnectâ„¢ stores an unlimited amout of the data collected for you and makes it accessible through simple to use API.
- JSON: data can be transported using the JSON format similar to rayleighconnectâ„¢ API format
- CSV: CSV (Comma Separated Values) file with the Timestamp format is ISO 8061 (RFC 3339) extended format: YYYY-MM-DD T HH:mm:SS Z and the Timestamp is the UTC timezone
- Data visualization menu
- Select “Interconnect” option
- Click on the “Add connection” button on the left
- Configuration
- Interval
- Meters: depending on selected meter model the gateway will read kWh, Voltage, Current, Power factor, Frequency and other meter-related measurements
- Other data: examples incldue digital inputs, relay outputs and gsm signal strength
- RI-DMUX: a Modbus RTU multiplexer – its main feature is allowing two masters on a single RS-485 bus. Requests from two Modbus RTU masters are queued and forwarded to Modbus RTU slave devices ensuring no data transmission conflicts, and once response is received it is sent to master that sent the request. The Second master does not receive requests nor responses initiated by first master.
- RI-EM04: an I/O extension module for PRO-series gateways, 4 relay outputs, power supply Smart Extension Port.
- RI-EM42: an I/O extension module for PRO-series gateways, features 4 digital inputs / 4 pulse counting inputs, 2 relay outputs, power supply Smart Extension Port.
- RI-EMT4: an I/O extension module for PRO-series gateways, features 4 analog inputs designed to operate with 3-wire PT100 resistance thermomethers, power supply Smart Extension Port.
Gateways Commisioning
Plug and play in two easy steps:
Energy Meters Configuration
There are over 200 energy meters, inverters and generators and more to choose from. Just select the model from the dropdown menu and you are ready to go.
Administration tools
Interconnect
The Interconnect feature allows automatic sending (pushing) data to third-party systems.
Protocol
Following protocol options are supported: FTP, FTP over TLS 1.2 and SSH SFTP
Data format
Two data formats are supported.
Please contact us for the JSON code or CSV format.
Configuration screen
To access the interconnect configuration screen:
Open “Data Visualization” menu by clicking on button with Chart icon in top bar:
You will be taken to Interconnect dashboard which shows a list of configured services:
The data sending interval is controllable by the customer. The Gateway standard configuration acquires data from the connected meters every 1 minute. Interconnect can be set to upload data every 1 minute, every 10 minutes, every hour or day. Any number of seconds can be entered (with recommended minimum being 2 minutes). If Interconnect is configured to send data e.g. every 10 minutes, then the file will contain multiple data points acquired since previous Interconnect data transfer.
Sensors
The interconnect can send all sensor data acquired by the gateway:
Customer can also configure which sensors and meter readings are sent.
Destinations
The system allows for the creation of multiple records and data can be sent to multiple destinations.
Gateways
Gateways play a crucial role in energy monitoring by facilitating communication between various energy monitoring devices, including smart meters, sensors, and other data sources, and their associated cloud platform. rayleighconnectâ„¢ gateways collect the data and securely delivers it to the cloud platform.
Data Aggregation
Gateways collect data from multiple energy monitoring devices installed within a facility or across different locations. These devices may use different communication protocols or technologies, such as Modbus or M-Bus. The gateway acts as a bridge, translating their diverse data formats into a unified format that the cloud platform can understand.
Data Processing
Once the data is aggregated, gateways preprocess it before sending it to the cloud platform. This preprocessing may involve data filtering, aggregation, or basic analysis to ensure that only relevant and useful information is transmitted, reducing the burden on the software platform and improving efficiency.
Security
Gateways play a crucial role in ensuring the security of data transmission between energy monitoring devices and the cloud platform. They incorporate encryption and authentication mechanisms to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access or tampering, thereby safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of energy data.
Local Storage and Buffering
Gateways include local storage capabilities to temporarily store energy data in case of network disruptions or communication failures. This buffering functionality ensures that no data is lost during transmission interruptions and allows for seamless data retrieval once the connection is restored.
Network Management
Gateways provide network management features, such as device discovery, configuration, and monitoring, to streamline the deployment and maintenance of energy monitoring infrastructure. They enable administrators to remotely manage and monitor connected devices, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal performance of the entire system.
