How to send native SMS alert notifications via a Room Alert Account
A Room Alert account provides you with an online platform and way to manage your Room Alert monitor(s), sensor(s) and accessories. Room Alert has several subscription tiers (the Personal level if free for the first year).
For Professional tier of Room Alert Account or higher, customers can choose to use the native SMS message option. This was introduced as some large mobile phone operators are starting to phase out email-to-SMS services and this method is not always supported globally and is prone to throttling back at peak demand times.
To get started utilizing native SMS alert notifications in Room Alert Account, customers must pay for their SMS per message. Under the “Manage Account” tab in your Room Alert Account, users can find the new “SMS Balance” tab. Depending on what user role you have, this will affect your view and what you have access to. For example, administrators can purchase “message credits” to add funds to the account. There is no limit to how many funds you can add. You can also check the rates for native SMS messaging in your specific country.
Once you have funds, setting up native SMS alert notifications is extremely easy. Simply save your mobile number to your user profile. Then add a new SMS action to your alerts, and pick the right user from the drop-down list. There is no limit to the number of phone numbers you can configure on an alert. Now you’ll get a text message when there’s any alert activity.
For users who don’t want to use SMS messaging, they can download the Room Alert Mobile App and receive instant push notifications.
