What is an Edge Data Centre (EDC)?

An EDC or Edge Data Centre is a self-contained data centre or micro data centre connected to a primary or hyperscale data centre. The configuration is designed to reduce latency in terms of data processing and service delivery to the end user. The EDC is nearer to the end users being served by the data centre and provides a faster and more tailored service for those users than would be achieved via direct connection to the primary or hyperscale data centre.
