How does a BMS differ to an Energy Management System?

A building management system (BMS) is primarily concerned with building automation and monitoring, primarily lighting and HVAC (heating, air conditioning and ventilation) systems. An energy management system is more focused on the monitoring and reporting of energy usage throughout the building by all the monitored systems in order to improve energy efficiency.
